Welcome Magnificent May!

As 2021 progresses, I realized how “consistency” has been a staple for me this year. In the last few years there were things that I desired to achieve however I ended up making excuses, quitting them or just getting distracted with other things, and not achieve them.

This year I decided that one of my goals was being consistent with my physical activity as I noticed how much better I felt every time I exercised, and how much I enjoy exercise (if outdoors even better!). So, I decided to make physical activity a non-negotiable for me. A non-negotiable is something you would never change your mind about, no matter what.

The way I see exercise t is that: ‘I don’t HAVE to exercise. I GET to exercise.’ Moving my body in different ways is one of the greatest gifts that I used to take for granted.

My daily non-negotiable of physical activity does not mean that I dedicate hours to my exercise. Some days I choose to exercise for 90 minutes doing something intense but the next day I may walk on the beach or do a yoga class. Exercise is not a chore, on the contrary it is something I enjoy. Consistency is key. You are never too old or too young or not strong enough or not ‘in shape’ enough to have physical activity.  Make your physical activity a non-negotiable. Get out there and do it!

A medida que avanza este 2021, me he dado cuenta de que la “consistencia” ha sido un elemento básico para mí. En los últimos años había algunas cosas que deseaba lograr, sin embargo terminaba poniendo excusas, dejando de hacerlas o simplemente distrayéndome con otras cosas y pues no lograndolas.

Este año decidí que una de mis metas era ser consistente con mi actividad física ya que habia notado cuánto mejor me sentía cada vez que hacía ejercicio y cuánto disfruto del ejercicio, y si es al aire libre aún mejor! Así que decidi hacer de la actividad física algo no negociable para mí. Un no negociable es algo sobre lo que nunca cambiaría de opinión, pase lo que pase.

La forma en que veo el ejercicio es la siguiente: “No TENGO que hacer ejercicio. PUEDO hacer ejercicio “. Mover mi cuerpo de diferentes maneras es uno de los mayores dones que solía dar por sentado.

Mi actividad física diaria no negociable no significa que dedique horas interminables a mi ejercicio. Algunos días puedo hacer ejercicio durante 90 minutos haciendo algo intenso, pero al día siguiente puedo caminar por la playa o tomar una clase de yoga. Para mi el ejercicio no es una tarea, por el contrario es algo que disfruto. Aca lo clave es la consistencia. Nunca se es demasiado viejo o demasiado joven o no lo suficientemente fuerte o no lo suficientemente “en forma” para realizar actividad física. Que tu actividad fisica sea algo no negociable! Es tan simple como ¡Sal y hazlo!
